Contemporary lines, a muted palette and a fascinating mix of objects are at the heart of this high-style Park City residence, thanks to the keen eye of Joslyn Taylor and her team at  Swoon, The Studio. Drawing on their expertise in materiality, they relied on stone, blonde wood and a wealth of textures to create an unforgettable mountain retreat for their clients and their young family. As seen in our print feature, All Natural, the final result is a joyful celebration of place, demonstrating tasteful design while embracing the surrounding landscape.

Throughout the home, custom millwork uses integrated ledges to omit the need for metal hardware, creating a sleek, smooth facades on all storage spaces. Here, the millwork pairs with a stone slab countertop from Pinnacle Stone Design and gilded hardware, including sconces by Allied Maker. Floor tile is by Daltile.

The same millwork profile continues in the kitchen and workspaces. The home’s dark and moody pantry showcases similar integrated ledge handles on lower storage, while open shelving above shows off artistic pottery from the homeowner’s collection. On the countertops and backsplash, a mother-of-pearl quartzite brightens and grounds the space.

In the light-filled foyer, a Noguchi light sculpture delivers an artful resting place before entering the rest of the home.

In the homeowner’s chic-and-feminine office, a vellum desk from Restoration Hardware stands as a sculptural centerpiece. Behind it, a stone Kassandra Thatcher sconce form Spartan Shop introduces an organic edge to the space among carefully curated display pieces. Across from the desk, a whimsical mix of art brings personality and youth to the room. Limestone lamp is from CB2.

Richly-veined stone from Pinnacle is the hero of the primary bathroom, where it extends from floating shelves around the standing tub, into full-slab application in the statue-esque walk-in-shower. “The stone makes for a beautiful, chunky, wonderful and relaxing shower,” says Taylor.

Throughout the home, a careful mix of antiques and curated statement pieces showcase the personality and tastes of the homeowners.
