Jana Robertson, founder of Roberts & Lamb, came to interior design through fashion and fine art— designing for Diane von Furstenberg and Anthropologie, then painting professionally for a decade. While living in Mexico City, she created a stunning yet functional home featuring custom furnishings she designed, made by local craftsmen. Combined with her artwork in the U.S. Embassy, Jana’s creativity soon became known among expats. One asked Jana to style her study, which led to a whole-home design of a Spanish Colonial mansion in the Lomas de Chapultepec neighborhood. This 2016 project sparked Roberts & Lamb (R&L).
That same client came back twice—a coastal ranch in Miami’s Coral Gables, then a Craftsman in Seattle’s Queen Anne. Three homes, one family. Other projects followed: a rowhouse on DC’s Capitol Hill, a mid-century modern in Virginia, and an apartment in the Watergate. In 2019, Jana moved R&L to Salt Lake City. The firm’s current portfolio includes a Stein Eriksen Residence (one of several Deer Valley projects), a flagship model home in Red Ledges, a mountain home in Park City, and a desert abode at Stone Cliff in St. George.
Roberts & Lamb’s signature is warm, organic and curated homes that blend art and function. “I see things differently because of my path through fashion and painting,” Jana says. “Color, texture, and composition come first, aesthetically and practically. Everything else follows.” The process begins with listening to the site, to the bones of the house, to how the client actually lives.
Natural materials such as stone, solid wood, metal, custom millwork, pottery, and textiles, sourced from local artisans and beloved vendors infuse R&L’s designs. “We want finishes and furnishings to feel grounded and real,” she says. “We layer vintage finds alongside custom pieces, so a room feels collected over time, not ordered from a catalog.”

“We value the experience and relationships as much as the end result”

Behind the mood boards and finished spaces is a team that runs on organization, clear communication, and fun. Liz Shelnutt leads operations while Lauren Heile anchors the design side. “We value the experience and relationships as much as the end result,” says Jana. Collaboration with architects, builders, and trades, from concept to completion, is foundational.

Mountain Living named Roberts & Lamb a 2026 Top Mountain Designer, and Architectural Digest lists the firm in its AD PRO Directory. This summer, R&L and Citizen Builders will show a 1930s Tudor renovation in the historic Yalecrest neighborhood at the Salt Lake Parade
of Homes.
