Ever feel like you just want to get away? The owners of this Eden community home did as they teamed with interior designer Andrea West to bring to life a dwelling that’s both luxurious and livable. Surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of the Wasatch Mountains and panoramic valley views, this residence effortlessly merges contemporary design with nature’s grandeur. As seen in our feature Living in Eden, it’s a celebration of refined simplicity, thoughtfully crafted to reflect its surroundings and the homeowners’ clean-lined, contemporary style. In this extended online feature, we explore the home’s design elements and breathtaking setting, offering additional images that showcase exceptional character that will take you away. Photos by Meagan Larsen.

Pictured above, the great room’s fireplace, clad in dry-stacked White Sand Divino Ledge stone pulled from the home’s exterior, soars 17 feet to a vaulted, white oak-planked ceiling. Interior designer Andrea West dressed the expansive windows with motorized blinds by Park City Blind & Design, layered with linen draperies. A neutral palette of warm whites, light grays and soft wood tones creates a sense of calm, while dark accents keep the design dynamic. Black metal beams, iron chandeliers by Visual Comfort, and ebony-framed windows add contrast, along with cane-backed chairs and bold accessories.

In the kitchen, a cement-plastered range hood—enclosed in a custom black metal-and-glass frame—makes a bold contemporary statement while protecting the plaster. White Macaubas quartzite, with its soft, linear veining, flows across the countertops and hearth, sourced from seven hand-picked slabs. Black metal details repeat throughout the space, from the island’s legs and hanging shelves to the counter stools and hood enclosure, creating striking contrast in the primarily white room. Visual Comfort pendants add a polished touch. To keep the kitchen feeling clean and open, the refrigerator and freezer were tucked into the butler’s pantry, allowing for more window space and uninterrupted views.

The primary bath’s freestanding soaker tub takes center stage, perfectly positioned in front of the Euro glass-enclosed shower to maximize both style and serenity. For a touch of drama, slate blue zellige tile runs from the vanity’s backsplash all the way to the ceiling and continues seamlessly into the shower, creating a sense of continuity and calm.

A black-ribbed bed by Alder & Tweed anchors the primary bedroom, where a vaulted ceiling of white oak planks and crisp white beams creates both warmth and architectural interest, drawing the eye toward the expansive views framed by sliding glass doors. Designed as a serene retreat, the space balances warm tones and high contrast, with the ceiling’s natural wood adding depth and character. A leather-paneled chaise lounge near the balcony offers the perfect spot to unwind, completing the room’s inviting, sophisticated vibe.

The playroom is a vibrant, multi-purpose space designed for both play and movie nights. A custom, colorful wallpaper on the ceiling sets a playful tone, inspiring the room’s deep blue walls and light-toned built-ins. Woven baskets and a hanging rattan swing add warmth and texture, continuing the home’s natural, relaxed vibe.

In a girl’s bedroom, a soft, playful balance of neutrals and color brings the space to life. While the home’s palette leans toward warm whites and natural tones, this room gets a cheerful boost with thoughtfully chosen accents. A strategically placed mirror reflects the room’s decor, making it feel lighter and more open, while colorful textiles and accessories add personality without overwhelming the serene vibe. The result is a space that feels both bright and cozy—perfect for rest and play.

An inviting sitting area with custom built-ins sets the tone as you enter the home—elegant yet approachable. “It shouldn’t feel too formal; you want it to be welcoming,” says designer Andrea West. Like the entire home, this space strikes a perfect balance between comfort and sophistication, creating a lived-in feel where everyday routines are elevated with a sense of luxury.

The young girl’s bedroom exudes a cozy, organic charm, with carefully chosen elements that create a serene and inviting atmosphere. Rattan pendants hang above the nightstands, adding a natural, textured touch that complements the room’s earthy feel. Soft, nubby textiles—from the bedding to the throw pillows—enhance the tactile warmth, while dusty pink walls bring a gentle hint of color, balancing softness with sophistication. The combination of organic materials and subtle hues fosters a nurturing space that feels both comforting and stylish, perfect for restful nights and peaceful mornings.

To balance the contemporary elements, West introduced organic touches that soften the space. In the main living areas, she kept a tight neutral color palette, allowing the views to take center stage. The designer explains, “With a neutral base, texture becomes your best friend—whether it’s the fireplace or the headboard, every detail adds depth and interest.” The walls, painted in Sherwin Williams’ “Pure White,” offer a crisp, bright backdrop that’s neither too warm nor too cool. This versatile hue allows other elements, like the fireplace and countertops, to truly pop and it pairs seamlessly with every other feature in the room.

The homeowners wanted a calm, welcoming space that’s light and neutral, perfect for entertaining family and guests. With this in mind, West designed the kitchen layout and bar area for easy flow, keeping the refreshment bar conveniently accessible yet subtly tucked away. A handmade cement-look porcelain tile backsplash extends to the ceiling, tying in the kitchen’s cement hood. Statement open shelving showcases glassware and everyday essentials, while carefully chosen decanters and artwork add an artsy, beautiful touch to the space. The result is a functional yet stylish area that’s ideal for entertaining.
