Last week, AMB Design (Anne-Marie Barton) had a dramatic design reveal to unveil the remodeled transformation of a Holladay home that sits creekside on a shady lot in an established neighborhood. Friends and neighbors joined the event, and the visitors shared that exhaled pleasure of walking through a door and into an entry and immediately feeling at home.
Classic traditional design elements melded with clean lines, spacious rooms and a floorplan with a gracious and easy flow. The skills of Jackson & LeRoy, a contractor with a portfolio of awards for its detailed approach to remodels, show in the chevron patterned floors, moldings, woodwork and stairs of the entry.
The entry leads to the living area which sits in the long rectangular open plan. The structured backs of the sofa and paired chairs set a visual squared-off shape to the space. The quiet colors of the design palette is a signature of AMB Design. The colors offer a sense of softness which is repeated in the ample cushioning of the furnishings.
The dining room is between the living room and the kitchen. The built-in hutch flows into the kitchen cabinets. A slightly dropped ceiling demarks the kitchen area.
From the view of the kitchen one can see the continuation of the space through to the living area and the importance of the windows along the exterior wall and the view to the back lot and creek. The kitchen features a double island to handle the food preparation and serving for holidays and events.
The girls’ room is one of five upstairs bedrooms in addition to the downstairs master. The window seat offers a space for quiet time and has views to the creek.
With this home I am reminded of how well blending classic and traditional elements with modern features like an open plan and clean lines work together. It seems to take the best from the different styles and combine to make it a very homey environment, and from the reactions of those at the reveal, others are in agreement.
