Geographic conditions have a major growth impact in any given area, but did you know Utah’s harsh winter months can actually help your spring planting come to full life and color?
Hardy spring plantings can withstand harsh winter conditions. Shrubs, trees, perennials, tulips, pansies and daffodils are just a few examples of the plants that thrive during winter time.
Snow can come to serve as a source of insulation and hydration for your plantings, but be careful to not use snow in areas that you have used salt.
“I personally like to surround my trees and shrubs with shoveled up driveway snow to help them survive through the harsh winter months,” says Aldo Littig, Tuck Landscape’s Special Projects Foreman.
