There’s a whole lotta of love in the air this week. As much as we adore frilly flowers and crave dark chocolate, we’re rolling out the red Valentine’s Day carpet for our love of mid-century modern architecture in Utah.
Last week, the MCM advocates of Salt Lake Modern “heart bombed” The Tenth East Senior Center to show their love of the building. Not only is the structure flooded with natural light, the Center fills up with the energy of sunny seniors that come weekly—and oftentimes daily—to practice yoga, socialize, learn to crochet, puzzle, use the computer room, and dance to live big-band music.
Want to see it for yourself and learn more about mid-century architecture in Utah? Join the Salt Lake Modern team—along with Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services—for a family-friendly event that will include music, dancing, art and hula hooping.
At 6 p.m., architectural historians and local preservation professionals Bim Oliver, John Ewanowski and Steve Cornell will discuss the importance of this structure and its architect Burtch Beal.
