Marked by the refreshing air of spring and the lengthening hours of daylight, Easter is the perfect time to host family and friends for brunch. Blooming garden beds beckon for an al fresco party, and refreshed home decor deserves to be shown off. But a successful springtime bash requires more than a few seasonal dishes and decorative bunny rabbits. A thought-out gathering should offer an experience to your guests, whether that’s a laid-back garden party, an elevated culinary journey, or an eventful day of Easter egg hunting—it’s up to you. Whatever type of brunch you end up hosting, these five tips will make you the star host of the season.

Choose A Theme

Step outside the proverbial Easter basket by theming your brunch around a memorable springtime subject. Of course a few classic Easter motifs don’t hurt, like marbled Alabaster eggs subtly placed on bookshelves or a bunny ear napkin ring adorning dining ware. But don’t be afraid to embrace other fun ideas like a color coordinated dress code, high-tea menu items, or even an all-out Alice in Wonderland garden party.

Set The Table Early

As the centerpiece of your Easter brunch, the table deserves an extra dressing of springtime flair. Before you begin preparing food and welcoming guests, take an hour or so to adorn the table with the appropriate dining ware and fresh decor. Below we’ve gathered a few of our favorite pieces that deliver just the right amount of Easter ambiance.

Offer Grazing Boards

Brunches combine the pleasantries of breakfast with the easy-going nature of lunch, and, of course, the art of snacking. Offering a grazing board to your guests is a thoughtful gesture, and a colorful charcuterie board doubles as eye-catching edible decor. If you aren’t interested in crafting your own snack platter, consider ordering a custom charcuterie board from locally-owned Maven Oak Creative or Meat My Cheese.

Make a Signature Beverage

You don’t have to be a certified mixologist to create your own signature Easter brunch cocktail. Take a simple crowd pleaser, like a French 75 or Bramble, and incorporate fresh seasonal ingredients. Springtime fruits like honeydew melon, strawberries and kiwis pair well with botanical gins or effervescent sparkling wines. For deeper spirits like whiskey and aged rum, consider cherries, pineapple and rhubarb.

Don’t Forget the Flowers

Crisp spring air is bursting with the scent of fresh flowers, so it’s only natural your brunch features the season’s signature blooms. Stop in your local flower shop to find freshly-picked bouquets of snapdragons, carnations, tulips, sweet peas and lily of the valley. Vibrant floral arrangements make fragrant party favors for your guests, and some variations can be planted directly in the ground for enjoyment all season long.
