Businesses are calling their employees back to work, but instead of a loud Mr. Dither’s bark, “Get back to work!” it’s the soft siren call of a creative, fresh, stimulating office environment that whispers its comforts and personal accommodations to employees.

Case in point, the offices of Health Catalyst, a company working to improve healthcare data and analytics technology and services. Okland Construction just finished the tenant improvements and completed a design by Rapt Studio of San Francisco, LA, and New York City.

It’s tempting to start this photo tour with the amenities, but I’ll fight the urge and begin with one of the workspaces. The design isolates the workspace in several ways. First, it suspends a ceiling from the open industrial ceiling of the overall space. The acoustical materials of the
drop-down ceiling manage the sound levels and the lighting and ventilation is closer to the workers. Secondly, the flooring shifts from concrete to carpet, but it maintains a consistent color. On the far wall are a large and small conference rooms, an arrangement that repeats
with other workspaces.

On to the special spaces! Here is the employee cafeteria. Beyond the wall to the right is a training space that extends from the far wall to the wall behind the camera. The proximity of training to cafeteria seems very handy for breaks and meals for an all-day session

The library occupies most of this floor. The individual study carrels are seen in relationship to the stairway. Here a shift to wood flooring defines the area.

The library tree table can be closed off for privacy.

Adjacent to the larger library conference table—which also may be closed off for privacy with drapes, is a refreshment area and lounge seating.

This midnight blue passageway leads from workspaces to collaboration areas. The doors along the passage open to private offices.

Circular huddle spaces (I love that term huddle) can be enclosed with a unique drop-down drapery to signal no interruptions. It’s a large space, and there is more to be seen like the fitness gym, meditation rooms, and executive conference room. This blog is just a sampling. Since the Health Catalyst office has just been completed, many employees will step into it for the first time the next few weeks. It would be fun to follow behind them as they explore remote controls for the drapes, the submarine-like passageways, and the features designed to make their days go more smoothly and comfortably.
