In my mind COVID is the Grinch that stole my Christmas. To enjoy our grandchildren Christmas morning in San Francisco, we would be placed under mandatory ten-day quarantine. Obviously, plans have changed. We are now celebrating a quiet holiday at home.
Heber Valley is a wonderful place to spend Christmas in less contagious times. There are so many activities to enjoy: snowy sleigh rides, bell-ringing performances, local acting companies performing plays, the special Polar Express Heber Creeper, tubing, winter bikes, cross-country skiing, sledding and the magic of lights reflecting from snow and snow-laden bows in a very beautiful alpine setting. Today, my photos take us inside a Midway home where our hostess Allison Larsen has readied her home for Christmas celebrations.
Opening the door, the entry announces that this is a home that loves to celebrate Christmas. The first tree to be encountered is nestled in the curve of the stairway.
Proceeding to the great room, a roaring fire awaits, ready to warm cold toes. Another tree welcomes guests.
The same care and attention is brought to the dining room.
But, what is Christmas without cookies and homemade treats? She transforms the dining table with the special treats she makes from family recipes, each with a story.
I think these photos can best be enjoyed with some carols playing.
Happy holidays to you. May we celebrate (a little further apart) and remember the many blessings of the year despite the year’s challenges and hardships. Stay safe; stay well.
