Old buildings have a personality, a story, a soul,” says singer-songwriter Mindy Gledhill. It’s this character that she and husband Ryan wanted for their family’s new hillside home in Provo. Teaming with interior designer Aubrey Veva Smith, the duo filled their house with a mix of surprising styles and eyebrow-raising details. We couldn’t possibly fit them all in our featured story Pitch Perfect, so we’re sharing more of our fave’s below. Enjoy the ride!

Interior designer Aubrey Veva Smith and singer-songwriter Mindy Gledhill sit in the home’s vibrant music room. The duo collaborated to create the upbeat décor.

Soaring ceilings are clad in tongue-and-groove reclaimed barnwood dressed with its original paint.

The master bath’s vanity chest boasts a custom marble countertop and trough sink. Light fills the space made moody by a black brick wall and tiled shower.

The kitchen opens to a large dining space furnished with a table crafted by homeowner Ryan Gledhill. Orange Eames chairs add a punch of color and modern form.

One of two of the family’s Portuguese Water Dogs rests at the base of the main staircase. Ryan designed the metal grate and railings.

Sitting on a hillside above Provo, the home’s exterior features corrugated steel, locally sourced stone, brick and reclaimed wood.

Pipe and wood planks create rustic open shelves in the spacious kitchen.

Black and white tile grounds the kitchen with a bold pattern. Gunmetal gray cabinets counterbalance the floor’s lively treatment.

Displayed on black custom cabinets, a collection of globes creates a memorable design element in the family’s music room.

Art and architectural elements like stained glass and recycled timbers add layers of character throughout the home.
