The Federal Heights residence transformed by designer Michelle Dunker and homeowner Marilyn Kalbach is a stunner. No wonder its chic dining room made the cover of our new issue. And if you can’t enough of the striking interior and gardens in our pages’ Fresh Start story, check out these additional shots. This house embraces elegance with absolute ease.
Located off the kitchen, lush gardens and wisteria-covered trellises frame a patio where outdoor living thrives during much of the year.

“The door is amazing, tall and grand,” says designer Michele Dunker. “In Europe, doors and ceilings are massive, and this home’s original owner understood that.”

A single Thomas Pheasant pendant light hangs above a custom, cowhide-topped table in the entry. The chic space opens to the beautifully adorned dining room.

Stacks of books and curiosities are wonderfully displayed on a library table located in the sunlit gallery area.

In the richly decorated living room, an Arteriors mirror hangs above a mantel original to the home.

Art by Julie Dunker hangs above a custom chest designed by Michele Dunker. Draperies are tailored in an exquisite Holly Hunt fabric.
